Does anyone around at the beginning care to share how Linux was used?

I only recall Doc Mana's early servers at ADMU... Doc did you write
this down anywhere? I'm sure the other PHNET schools did use
Linux/open source (kernel 0.99.x!).

the first linux box in DLSU was a 486 running primarily as a web server and secondarily as a nntp server. Other linux servers were used as email servers for CS students.  The rest of the students use Novell Netware and Pmail for email.  Eventually with iBCS2, CDS/ISIS (library application) eventually ran on Linux.
