Hi Eri,
gxine is only a GUI frontend to the xine engine based on GTK.
what really plays media is the xine-engine.
No demuxer looks like you do not have the xine plugin that will play
QuickTime movies.

Can you play apple quicktime movie files inside firefox? My gxine
cannot because when i try viewing movie trailers off
www.apple.com/trailers it gives error message "The xine engine
failed to start. No demuxer found - stream format not recognized".
I dont know if gxineplugin.a is the cure. Thats why im asking where
to get it.

I have gxine 0.5.4 here on Slackware 10.2, works fine here. I
think your gxine package does not include the gxine plugins. The
gxine package that Slackware provides have these.
