that is strange all right. if there's really that entry in the about:plugins and xine won't play, that's very hard.
well here's a quick work around.
In firefox, try to view the page source. then search for the .mov extension in the html source code. get the url of the movie. open xine or gxine and play it manually (play URL or something).
I'm using seamonkey and has no problem with it.
