I got my dapper from dist-upgrading breezy. what I did, I install breezy as a server not the entire breezy desktop because one time I did that I had problems upgrading some apps from the breezy version to the dapper version. So I install breezy as server, then edit the /etc/apt/sources.list to change all instances of breezy to dapper then sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. what will happen is that you will get a dapper version of the server type install. after that sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop. This method though a long cut for me ensures a smooth transition of the breezy packages and apps to the dapper version which is way more better and upgraded that those found in breezy. The kernel in breezy is also way below the dapper kernel version.

just my 2 cents
