I think its better for the government to favor open source. A lot of
business can be created that way. Im not talking about the revenue
from software licenses. Im thinking more of the the amount of services
that can be built around easy interoperability and the easy
availabilty of quality development tools. Foreign proprietary software
companies have lock on software development on proprietary platforms
and will not allow an independent self contained software industry to
develop in our country.

The company i work for now exists because i had easy access to high
quality compilers and systems and high quality advice from people
abroad. Now im building my own company from software i have been
writing during weekends for the past 5 years. This is all possible
because of open source.

Imagine the possibilities. We have access to all algorithms and code
necessary to acquire capabilities that we need in the shortest
possible time.

Its all about power. If you have read Toffler you know what I mean.

National Power trumps equal protection.

things i hate about my linux pc:

1. it takes more than a second to boot up
2. keeps asking about filenames and directories
3. does not remember what i was working on yesterday
4. does not remember all the changes i have ever made
5.cannot figure out necessary settings by itself
