Got an IBM Thinkpad T42p running on Ubuntu 6.06... works like a charm as everything just works (sort of... I haven't made the hard drive active protection system work with hard disk head parking). As far as I could tell, the T40, 41 and 42 series works well with Linux (as Linux SATA support does not yet include being power-aware, and that affects SATA-based ones like the T43 and T60). The one thing I'm primarily after is the support of the manufacturer of the machine particularly on their BIOS updates, followed by keyboard quality, then Linux compatibility, hence the preference for Thinkpads (despite those being unattractive, low-feature black bricks so unlike the Vaios and Macbooks :) -- Paolo Alexis Falcone [EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
