I lived in Laguna. I've worked in Bicol. I may not be "giving lectures
to an audience" but most of the people I meet from Visayas and Bicol
(not the literate kind that go to the lectures and stuff) don't
understand Filipino/Tagalog right away -- there's a bigger chance that
they understand English because in the first 6 grades in elementary,
they get taught how to speak English anyway.
And not Filipino? Isn't English and Filipino being taught side-by-side
even in public schools?
