There's more English than Filipino on TV.

where? HBO of course! if you're talking about cable tv,  i'm sure you're not a fan of local shows that's  why you say that.

Illiterates understand Filipino? Yeah, right... Illiterates where?

would you like to meet some? i can bring some for you to meet personally.

And did you notice that the media giants have regional stations that
broadcast the news in the local dialect?

it is during intermissions or commercial that they use the local dialects, i've recently been to cebu just last week and watch tv during at the hotel where there is no cable tv, they don't dub or even have a local dialect subtitle in any of the programs.

And have you met *every* bisaya and talked to them in straight
Filipino? Good luck with that.

of course i won't be able to meet all of them, hello? i can talk to them in straight filipino and they can fully understand what i told them, the only difficulty they're having just like a ilocano or a bicolano will have is speaking it fluently.

And you think that will stop me from quoting myself when I first said it:

<quote>
When I personally advocate Open Source Software, I say "this is a good
choice, you may or may not use it but here is a list of advantages
(and disadvantages) for using something like this...". I don't say
"Let's not use Microsoft anything because they're evil and they're
wrong." -- I used to say that before, but I've seen the light, and the
reality that not all software should be free/open source (it's just
insane to think that in the first place).

It's like saying everyone in the Philippines should speak Filipino
because it's the nationalistic thing to do -- which is just a load of
bull IMO.
</quote>

I stand by it -- proposing that everyone in the Philippines should
speak Filipino is like saying all software should be free/open source
(and vice versa). If you didn't get that, then I'm sorry you're going
to have to do better than "trying to argue" that Filipino should be
spoken by everyone in the Philippines.
