It depends on what you're trying to do. In general, neither mode of software production is "better" than the other. Both are arguably equally profitable given the right business model in the right market. One treats software as a product, relying on government-enforced monopolies to maintain that illusion, the other, in general, treats software as a service. Both modes have their strengths and their weaknesses, and by playing to the strengths and finding ways to compensate for weaknesses in particular markets is how one develops a successful business model. -- Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. http://stormwyrm.blogspot.com/ _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
