i've already pledged a LaMP (LPI / MySQL / PHP) certification for those
volunteer resource speakers on PLUG (or any recognized regional affiliates)
Quarterly Seminars. however, the candidate must:

- have presented at least 2 (Linux or MySQL or PHP) sessions w/in the
same fiscal year. (The certification to be sponsored will be based on
the topics presented, ie. Zend PHP Pro for the topics: PHP Security
& PHP for Database - Driven Applications, etc.).

- be an active member of PLUG or the PLUG mailing list.

- not be a member of the past or present PLUG Board.

the lucky volunteer was supposed to be chosen after the 3rd quarterly
seminar and announced this Dec during the PLUG Christmas party.
unfortunately, both events didn't occur(?). i've already discussed this
with the current secretary and even mentioned to him that the closest
candidate so far was Charlton Lopez which presented 2 topics on
PostgreSQL although it does not fall on either Linux or MySQL or PHP
category.

perhaps, we should wait for another fiscal year? and who knows,
RH Asia-Pacific might sponsor RHCE certifications someday
(calling Mr. Harish... ) :)

happy holidays!

regards,
Ariz

3. Sponsor certification exams - US$100/examinee. You guys can screen
the applicants and then coordinate with me as to when the next LPI
Level 1 certification exam will be held. This provides us with more
ammo when dealing with agencies and organizations. Whilst it is not
necessary to be certified to do advocacy, training and consultancy
work but it is nice to have. :)
