Does our government even care about signing up with this? Or has it? Or

Shocking isn't it? Pardon the term, but for a country more known for
ethnic genocide outside Africa, Rwanda seems to have a more concrete
information plan for its younger population.

Filipino education is going down to shameful levels as obviously the
government no longer gives it the needed support. And in exchange for
what? Maybe this is one thing the government should consider for our
children, our future.

The DepEd, in association with the Science Education Institude of DoST
and ASTI released CD-ROM based educational modules in Science and Math
just late last year. How this will be distributed to the primary
levels, I am not sure. I think they are encouraging the private sector
to provide the hardware and they can provide the software. I actually
have a copy of the CDs and they are made with Flash and have some
simple instructions to run for Windows and Linux.

Pardon me if I'm just seeing hopelessness with this government.
Sentiments. Maybe someone could enlighten me.

For all its worth, the DepEd knows how terrible the student to PC
ratio in the primary level and seeks to remedy this and have it as its
primary objective. How this fares well to budget hearings, I have no
idea yet.

BTW, the project seems to be promising more than what it initially
projected. The components are getting to more streamlined, more
efficient end products. Better software? The leanest they can get.

Yep, as most people who have seen Sugar running, they could only
describe it as its own, and does not feel like Windows, OSX or any
free software desktop environment even. That's a good thing. We
shouldn't teach students specific software, we should teach them how
to be productive with technology and open up the possibilities.
