I know.  But this was the case for me, believe it or not.  And I've tested in 
on a few machines here with the same results.  Something about it screws up the 
kernel, making it wait for something  or loop for a very long time.  I'm no 
kernel hacker.


So have you filed a bug on Ubuntu already? Or the Linux Kernel?
