If you only want read access to your ntfs partition, then [k]ubuntu already
has read access built in, and you don't need ntfs-3g. If you want read/write
access, then ntfs-3g may be of help. But ntfs-3g is not truly stable yet, and
anything
Microsoft on Linux is not expected to be stable, if you ask Bill Hilf of
Microsoft
Platform Strategy, and I believe him. For ntfs support on Linux to be stable,
Microsoft has to release the specifications of ntfs, and must itself commit to
sticking
to those specifications.

I just installed ntfs-3g which is outside the official Edgy repositories.
I'll check it this...

What would be helpful perhaps is an audit of your activity in the past
24 hours. What software have you installed within that time? What
other system-related work did you do? Who else used your system within

that timeframe?

In particular, do you use any other means of installing software other
than the official Edgy repositories?

Cheers,

Zakame
