The version in the Universe repo is not that "stable" version. I don't know if
the latest is in the backports repo, but I built mine from source I got at the
official website (www.ntfs-3g.org). And I didn't encounter the problem you had.

oh my mistake... i was lead to the idea (by the website i read the
instructions from) that it is "stable". I already mentioned that it came from
unofficial repo.

Claimed?!? I don't reckon that it (i.e., your version of ntfs-3g that
you used) ever was, at least for Edgy.

The official Edgy repos holds version 20060920-0ubuntu2 of libntfs-3g0,

which *is* definitely not the released stable version from the ntfs-3g
devs. It was included in the distro (specifically in the Universe
section) at the time for convenience, and so that more adventurous users

(such as you :P) can pick up to test.

Feisty now has the stable (as-its-devs-claimed) version, 1:1.0-2ubuntu1,
which I have been using for the past couple of weeks without any pain
(even being a FUSE filesystem, it doesn't break my laptop's

suspend/hibernate functions.)

Cheers,

Zakame
