8GB is too much for a swap for RHEL3, but for RHEL4 and above, 8GB is the recommended size if your RAM is 8GB.

Hi list, I have a raid 5 200gig disk space and I'm planning to allot 10G for / in 1 LV, 8G for swap in another LV and reserved the rest as unalloted PE for future file system requirement for Oracle and DBs which we plan to put each in separate LVs once we got the specs for its requirement.
