Divide the 200 GB into multiple PVs. Don't make a single PV. Using multiple PV
is more flexible than one PV.
Yes this is the mistake that I want to avoid, I will re-layout the box
with multiple PV in mind for better flexibility.
Put /boot on a non-Logical{VM} partition unless you're planning to boot from
an external disk.
1 VG for /
- 1 LV for /
- 1 LV for /home (optional)
- (other LVs depending on your needs)
Why? 1) In case you want to move / out of the disk where your databases
resides, and 2) It helps in maintaining your OS volumes without touching
your database VG.
1 VG for the Oracle DBs (see explanation above). In case you upgrade to a
bigger disk later, you can just move the whole database VG without worrying
about you OS volumes.
If i will be using raid 5 is it possible to create at least 2 VGs or
it will be much better if I use 0+1?
thanks,
Thad
