jan gestre instead of squidguard or run a specialized distro like endian, ipcop, smoothwall, monowall and pfsense, all of this distro are user friendly because they are configured via webgui.
------------------------ Jun Salen Yes, you do. In fact mine contains SMTP using Postfix, MailScanner, Spamassassin, and ClamAV aside from Squid........ I also suggest installing squidview from Dag's repo, for the replacement of "tail -f /var/log/squid/access.log", the beauty is that the output is well formatted for your human eyes. ------------------------- @jan gestre so i could also opt to install squid on IPCop right? i was thinking it might be limited to it firewall functionality. If ever could i also install stuff like MailScanner, Spamassassin, ClamAV etc.? @Jun Salen Sir Jun what if i would only install Squid, SquidGuard, MailScanner, Spamassassin, and ClamAV on my proxy server and i have a separate email server will the different security scanners will be able to scan incoming mails passing tru the proxy? will it be more secure if i run squid on firewall-like distro rather the typical ones? thanks for all the great inputs! -- Lloyd Martin T.
