No.  Squid can be installed in any box within the network.  As long as the 
firewall opens up the ports that the squid box will require.

Just for clarification, is it really necessary to install squid proxy server on 
the Firewall Server or Internet Server...I noticed on Mandriva squid 
configuration that I can add another proxy sever by another level.
