Hi Mike,

Thanks again. I tried your little test:
1. Reboot.
2. At grub prompt, press ESC.
3. Hit fn+fk. Here, what happens is I see the grub menu being displayed
alternately between the my laptop display and the external monitor, but
never both on at the same time. My F8 button has the "CRT/LCD" label by the
way. Do you think it's a BIOS issue or purely an X server problem?

Right now, by the way, what I have are like 2 different desktops. The mouse
travels from my laptop screen to the external monitor if I move the mouse
pointer to the right hand side of my laptop. The opposite happens when I
move the mouse pointer to the left of the external display. It's not so
bad, actually because I'll have bigger working space. But I would still
like to have the good old "clone" display, especially when I have do
presentation before an audience.

Best regards,
Allister
