For analogy, I think the car analogy may have just lacked elaboration
and isn't lame (do you want flame wars? just decently say you don't
appreciate the provided example and move on with your life beyond the
confines of your computer).

Here's my understanding of Mr. Gestre's car analogy:
Granted the 32-bit can be taken as a 2-lane road, and the 64-bit as
the 4-lane road; that is: each lane doubled the width. In effect,
there are more cars getting thru the road (this could be an analogy of
the I/O bus interface). We haven't yet reached the data processing
part yet, in the road and car analogy, the appropriate data processing
counterpart would be that more cars reach their destination but not
necessarily faster, and depends on whether the width of the 64-bit
road is saturated with cars (data) and mishaps happen along the way
(ironically termed 'cache miss' in CPU terminology).

Can we spare the original poster's time and give him the facts and
keep this list community friendly? It's one thing to know about
something more than their neighbor, and it's another to spark
indifference with uncalled for insults and cuss words. If you know
something valuable, just share it. Richard Stallman didn't start the
community by insulting everybody else's intelligence, he delivered by
practicing what he preached and shared what he has. If you can't get
past beyond your ego, are you sure you belong to this community?
