Good afternoon,

Ei, Jijo..I'm willing to share my expertise in major ERP business
processes (order to cash, purchase to payment, inventory management,
financials - GL/SL, payroll, manufacturing, fixed assets, financial
statement closing process). I'm currently conducting a functional and
security evaluation of the following Open Source ERPs: Openbravo,
Adempiere/Compiere, TinyERP and Postbooks in a Philippine business
environment.

Payroll is the easiest major business process. It is more or less the
same process across industries. The only difference is on the
configuration of rates (some companies have higher percentages in
night diff - more than 10%, and overtime rates - more than 25%). Even
the computation of income tax may be different depending on the basis
(gross/annualized or basic). A Philippine payroll system is easy to
build if you understand the four payroll sub processes: HR 201
maintenance, Time keeping, payroll processing, and payroll recording.
I do have an internal payroll system project developed in Java and
PostgreSQL, but it was created for testing the accuracy of payroll
computations during Test of Controls phase of my audit engagements.

By the way, TinyERP has a major disadvantage. It cannot accomodate
multiple payments for a single invoice (TinyERP tries to write-off the
balance of the account receivable or payable, when you try to pay
partially, although I think there is a workaround).

If you want to implement a philippine payroll module for TinyERP, you
can start with a template of countries (U.S. and U.K.) using
progressive taxation for income tax calculations.

Count me in to any Open Source initiative especially involving
financial or security projects.

Merry Christmas PLUGgers!

Regards,

Cris Masancay
