I have tried..

noprobe and nostorage.
all_generic_ide=1 and all-generic-ide=1
brokenmodules=ata_piix
noirqdebug
irqpoll
tried using drivers: ata_generic, libata, pata_oldpiix, pata_mpiix

all resulted in crashes of the installer. I also tried using
"nostorage" (so that ata_piix does not load and hang the installer
constantly resetting the CDROM) and tried an FTP install from my
notebook... problem is, NO HARD DRIVE IS VISIBLE!!! (it seems ata_piix
is the only way to get the storage devices to show... and ata_piix
screws up and hangs trying to reset the CDROM)

I will try generic.all_generic_ide=1

I cannot install X86 F8 because... I don't have X86 F8! Took me >1 day
to download the F8 X86-64.

and my Globe DSL is down. I'm sending this via cheesy GPRS. For some
reason my phone is not displaying a 3G icon. Dunno if it's the phone
or the network... never happened before.
