These options seem to have nothing to do with driver loading...

I downloaded Ubuntu 7.10 this PM (took 2.something hours for the CD
ISO) so when I got back from the mall, I have Ubuntu.

It exhibits the exact same problem that Fedora 8 does (exception Emask
0x0 SAct 0x0... frozen

all-generic-ide, all_generic_ide=1 don't work either.

The funny thing, this bug was supposed to be fixed in 2.6.15 or
something. Aren't these distributions using something more modern?

It appalls me that such a common combination as Intel 945 chipset +
PATA CDROM is broken.
