here. Had a kernel panic problem on my test server running Centos 5 this
morning. It did not boot after resetting so I just removed a RAM module
(found to be defective) and the machine ran smoothly
afterwards.

hardware issue to me (assuming that you did not changed
anything before
the crash like kernel or system upgrade).
HDD/(or in RAID) and RAM are
the usual culprits.
can you also send the exact kernel panic message to
the list.
I agree, we had a similar issue with one of our client's server, it just
a case of defective RAM. Upon replacing the RAM the server is back up and
running again.
