Actually you can access documents without having to go through the rigmarol of installing RDBMS or filesystem products. Plone by default supports both FTP and WebDAV access to the object within the site. So all you need is either an FTP or webdav client (both of which come native with either MacOSX, Windows or Linux. If you're talking about true Document Management (change tracking and so on) Plone is almost there with that and there are add on products that take you the rest of the way I believe. > > OTOH, with the ZODB you get out of the box transactional support > (perfect if you wanna roll back to a previous version of a document), > pluggable authentication support (LDAP, SMB, eDirectory/AD, RDBMS, > etc), and a programmable workflow either Zope 2 or Zope 3 style (+2). > \o/ -- James Purser http://collaboration.jamespurser.com.au Mob: 0406 576 553 Ph: +61 2 8210 6725 _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
