hey just now the issues have been fixed. I activated update manager and
realized the envy updates were still lying there waiting, whereas I thought
I had already installed the most updated the first time I installed them.

in any case, so far i've discovered that bundling ms fonts and nvidia
drivers (siempre for nvidia equipped machines) are absolutely necessary to
produce a ready - to - use installation, as well as of course, firefox flash
plugins. Ubuntu and Mozilla for that matter may have their valid reasons for
not including these in the first place, but for someone setting up an icafe,
or any workstation where the end users need to get productive asap,
installing these seem to be the 1st order of business.
