Thanks for detailing the procedure for using Bluetooth instead of cable. On the matter of the mobile phone batteries running out quickly when using the phone as laptop modem: I think this is fairly common. What I do is always use the phone plugged to AC power using the phone charger. I do not know if that practice is bad for the phone battery; maybe it is.
