I want to install on my laptop an Ubuntu distro that I will use for day-to-day development. Activities include programming in C or Java, and web site development using Perl/PHP. Which one of the following two alternatives should I install?
1. Ubuntu desktop + build utilities + Apache/PHP 2. Ubuntu server + GNOME + build utilities + Apache/PHP In simple language, I want to know if "Ubuntu server + GNOME" is better for development than "Ubuntu desktop". Thanks for any suggestion.
