Here's another thing... If you ever in the future contemplate buying commercial Linux support, going with one of the RHEL derivates (RHEL, CentOS, Oracle Enterprise Linux) is a better bet.
Also, some software (such as Oracle Database! or Sun Global Secure Desktop..) is only supported on RHEL, OEL, and SuSE. If you run it on any other Linux distro... you're on your own. And people who buy this commercial software always do in expectation of getting support.
