It seems a lot of your services are not being started. Execute netstat -at.
It should show you the open tcp ports. Here's the output of netstat -at in my
laptop:
Active Internet connections (servers and established)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State
tcp 0 0 *:ssh *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 localhost.localdoma:ipp *:* LISTEN
tcp6 0 0 [::]:ssh [::]:* LISTEN
tcp6 0 0 xxx:ipp [::]:* LISTEN
tcp6 0 0 [::]:microsoft-ds [::]:* LISTEN
tcp6 0 0 [::]:netbios-ssn [::]:* LISTEN
This shows that I have SSH, CUPS, and Samba running and listening at their
expected port. In your case, you should see the ports for the services you
run. If not, then something really is messing up the boot process. Check
/var/log/syslog or dmesg for errors.
