Guy, What I can tell you from my 5.5 years experience with Slackware is that other than issues many of us faced after upgrading to -12.2 (a _very_ unusual situation), it takes minimal effort to maintain. Distribution upgrades come out perhaps twice a year, and a subscription means you get the set of disks in the mail. Worth while, in my opinion. Otherwise, individual packages (applications) are patched and upgraded only when an identified vulnerability has been addressed. This is infrequent but the individual packages vary greatly in size (Mozilla apps are among the largest). Many folks don't upgrade distributions for a long time if they don't need anything other than security updages. You can select your GUI from Xfce, KDE, window maker, fluxbox, and several others. I don't do drag-and-drop so I cannot comment on it. USB works well with the new HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer). I'm certain other distributions have equivalent ease of use but those who use 'em will have to comment on them. Rich -- Richard B.
