And here I thought I had been so careful about proofreading my reply.
That should have read:

  The VBox GUI is pretty easy to use, and there's also a command-line
  interface. Documentation is good, too.

  You'll need the VBox kernel module on your host system. Debian provides
  the source in its own package, which can then be compiled and installed
  via module-assistant.

  Make sure your host system has plenty of RAM.  The more RAM you have,
  the more guests you can run simultaneously.
