I simply want to SSH into the box and tell it to play the file off of its disk onto its screen. I naively thought that a simple command or two and I'd be done without having to get up from cuddling with my wife and sons, since I had the laptop next to me. (Well, I also wanted to impress them - see look what daddy can do!) :)
Although, like I said in the other post, I think that part of the reason it's so hard for me to find the right command is that VLC has all these wonderful network abilities that could make it the media center of a whole house. I may even use it that way someday. But for now I just have a simple set up. Thanks!
