Sounds like it is detecting that the line voltage is dipping below it's threshold. The sensitivity of this can be adjusted if you think the devices on the UPS can safely handle the sags. (see page 6 of the manual http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z8LFR_R0_EN.pdf ) I would try this to see if the problem goes away as it may be a problem with too many devices on your circuit and no problem with the UPS. I know that my UPS trips whenever my laser printer kicks on. You may also want to try moving the UPS to another outlet on a different circuit to see if the problem goes away.
If none of these suggestions help, you may need to do as you were thinking and repair/replace the UPS.
