Thinkpad T61, Fedora 14 x86_64. Transcend MicroSD card in SDHC adapter.
I plug the MicroSD card into the adapter and plug the adapter into the
slot in front of the computer. A green light next to the slot lights up
for a moment, then Nautilus pops up a browser window. All looks well,
but when I try to copy files to the card I get:
Error while copying to "6236-3638".
The destination is read only.
The adapter has a little slider switch reminiscent of the lock slider
on an ancient floppy disk. I have tried the switch in both positions,
but get the same results. I also tried copying files to it with
Nautilus as root, and from the command line as root. It automounts when
inserted, but I cannot umount it, even as root.
This is the second SD card from Transcend, and the previous one had the
same problem. I tried the previous one in two different Windows
computers, both of which said the card was defective. I sent it back to
Amazon.
It starts to stretch credibility that I have two bad cards in a row,
and of different form factors as well. I could use some suggestions for
what might be wrong.
