Galen, Yesterday I created a namecheap.com account and moved the DNS servers for my two domains to theirs. Today I started the process of transferring my two domains to them (the business domain from DomainDiscover, the personal domain from godaddy). Namecheap.com provides free dynamic DNS serverices so dynDNS is not needed. Bill Barry sent me a cron script he uses to check whether his IP address has changed; it runs every 5 minutes. If the address does change, the new one is entered in his router. In my naivete, I think this overcomes the SpiritOne/Frontier DSL issue. Is that correct? When I'm in a hotel whose nameserver cannot resolve my address by name I can use the current IP address that I obtained with 'host' and store in a text file in ~/. What's your thoughts?
