galen, Here's what I just received from Patrick: "Good morning Rich - as you had contacted me already regarding the pending changes to DSL connectivity over Frontier, I wanted to send you an update. Starting next week (Jan 23) we will be migrating the majority of our residential customers to the new platform, and contacting customers individually in daily batches. We expect to begin migration of DSL circuits identified as possibly hosting their own services or with advanced networks the following week (Jan 30). I will be using this announcement as a template for our general announcement to Frontier customers on Monday. "Once the changes are complete, your DSL modem (or firewall/router, if the modem is configured as a bridge) will need to be reconfigured to authenticate via PPPoE, rather than the current configuration as a 1483 Bridge with static IP address. You will use the following for the PPPoE credentials - "PPPoE username: <DSL-number>@value.net (for example, [email protected]) "PPPoE password: spiritone "Information on reprogramming Zoom modems received from us will be available on our website. Additionally we will attempt as best we can to research and provide information on reprogramming other DSL modems as well as routers. Please note we may not be able to locate information on all makes and models of equipment. If your network was originally installed by an outside technician, you may want to make contact with them for additional information as well. "Thank you for your patience during these changes!" My Netgear VFS318 lets me change to PPPoE by selecting a different radio button; I assume it then presents text entry widgets for the username and password. Patrick wrote that his circuit was changed at 9:00pm last night (midnight EST), he changed his router and was back online at 9:03pm. Everyone should have it this easy!
