This was a big problem for my Lenovo T510. The solution ultimately came from a tool called PerfectDisk from Raxco. As I recall I had to use the Pro edition. The basic edition didn't have the feature's required to completely solve the problem though it did get me started in the right direction. I'm not sure if they do this any longer but they had a free trial for both the basic and Pro edition. I was able to do to everything I needed under terms of the trial. But then I paid for it anyway as a way of thanks, and I've not used the software since.
