   Not quite. What aracnet told me is that when Frontier bought Verizon's
land lines they changed the DSL routers. The new ones are not
static-IP-address compatible with the routers at aracnet. As I'm not a
hardware or networking professional I accept that such a situation exists.
So, it's specific to aracnet/spiritone and other ISPs with similar hardware.

   Regardless, it's a serious PITA, as I had the same static IP address for a
dozen years.
