   As far as I know, your impression is correct. Russell (and everyone else)
knows more than I do about wireless computer connections. Wired or wireless
you need a local connection between any hosts on the same network. The
Ethernet cable functions as that connection between the two laptops; a WiFi
router is needed for wireless connection. T-mobile is your external gateway
to the 'Net which is not what you want for the two laptops.
