That's probably BS. ksh (Korn shell) doesn't have anything special in it
w.r.t. bash.

Why don't you ask IBM? the new AIX5 comes with bash (in fact, it's bundled
with so many GNU utilities that people are -- half-jokingly -- saying it
should be called GNU/AIX).

I guess that a lot would depend on the version of bash, there have been
some systems which just link /usr/bin/ksh to bash - so it would have all
the power of ksh.  And the shell resides between the user/app and kernel -
I am not sure why there would be any emulation problems while executing AIX
utilities.

AIX5L was developed  to be a multi-platform unix operating system, or at
least thats a.f.a.i.k.
