To continue with this bash on AIX, the emulation problem this @$$hole (sorry,
but my officemate's from hell) has been having is and I quote "The smit utility
itself assumes different emulation modes when run in a different shell, hence
cluttering the screen with unnecessary characters."  He's having garbled
characters because he telnets to the rs6k box and he said that the only solution
that would remove the garbled characters was to use ksh. WOW, I "telneted" and
used ksh, ran smit and still had garbage characters.  I solved this when I did
a:
$ TERM=vt100
$ export TERM

Smit ran perfectly, sheesh!!! To think this guy was certified.
