I'm using a P5A-B at home its reliable but its a 2 year old MB.  The
chipset is Ali 15xx Aladdin V and the newer kernel now supports DMA on the
this chipset.  If you really want a socket 7 MB, then I would suggest buy
some of the newer ones that would support higher clock rates and lower CPU
core voltages.
