Hello all,

False alarm. This is the DEFAULT 2.4.1 distribution from kernel.org. It
DOES boot, it just suppresses all the boot messages that I know and
love!! (still there in the dmesg, though, but I thought the
kernel was "stuck" booting because I didn't see anything for a
long time).

Since when did this happen? I'm also using 2.4.1 on my personal machine
and on THAT machine (with the .config from 2.4.0) the boot messages do
appear. Arguably, not having boot messages makes for a cleaner-looking
boot. But I'm a geek! I *miss* those boot messages!
