I see. But Im curious why the underlying file system
and the fact that sparc is big- and intel is
little-endian will affect the the copying of data
between solaris and linux? Isnt it that when i archive
/u02 in solaris and untar it in linux, tar still
writes the files correctly on linux corresponding to
the underlying file system's structure? or perhaps
oracle takes note of these differences (does oracle
have its own user-level FS on top of the OS for its
datafiles)?
