try 3ware Escalade RAID card (www.3ware.com). we ran a dozen systems in our farm with
this type of card. works on all raid levels frm 0,1,3,4,5. 3ware's drivers are
actually written by Andre Hedrick, kernel IDE hacker, on contract in the co. Frement
lab. comes with a concise manual on how to wire the the disks...
