The NCC should set the standards for the GISP, both in terms 
of software and hardware, he said, noting that the government 
sector has a mix of standards.

"I believe in going Web-based and open-source 
computing...(since) proprietary standards are expensive to 
update and maintain," he said. "We should explore open-source 
computing...(although) this has challenges." One of the 
difficulties in supporting open-source computing is the lack 
of technical support.
