Have you tried searching through Mandrake's mail archive?

I remember I had an experience pretty similar to this on MDK 7.2.
The video card and monitor were both supported but the machine hangs up
after a couple of minutes. After a series of testing (w/ the help of Ian
Sison), 
it appear that eth0 was dropping. Changing the network driver solved the
problem.
