On the software front I am using the journalling
filesystem Ext3 . The machine rebooted 3/31/2000 after
129 days of uptime, so yes Ext3 is reliable (don't use
software RAID though) ! Red Hat provides kernel rpms
including Ext3

hrmm it's in the 2.2.x series
