I agree. Setting up and installing Linux is the easy part. The users 
using and maintaining them is another issue altogether.

Maybe it would be simpler if institutions once again _go back_ to the 
server-side approach of computing (aka server + thin clients)? After 
all, the benefits of having to maintain a central system will probably 
outweigh the disadvantages in such a setup.
